Riverhead Slide presents the Masonic Bluesfest 2, at the Masonic Tavern, Devonport on Saturday November 12th.
Following the huge success of the inaugral Bluesfest in July, the band is repeating the three-band mini-festival concept.
The line up for Bluesfest 2 is 2WOKAY, an up and coming blues band from Whangarei, Doc & The Strayfalcon - no strangers to blues club members, and of course Riverhead Slide.
2WOKAY is fronted by big sister Gracie-Rose Kay on vocals, and little brother Jimmy Kay, on lead guitar, with rhythm section comprising of Isaac Tansley on Drums and Dylan Taylor on Bass.
Gracie-Rose at 18 has been singing for several years, her voice is described as Bluesy/Jazz.
While at school Gracie has competed in performing arts competitions, and recently attended the New Zealand singing school.
With her own band she has competed in the Smoke free rock quest, reaching the regional finals on three occasions, and twice winning the best female musicianship award for her vocals.
Jimmy at only 14 is showing great promise on guitar.
While at intermediate school he won the talent quest and in his first year of high school he again won the talent quest against all ages.
Jimmy has also competed in the smoke free rock quest for the last two years.
Brandon and Dylan both 18, are showing equal promise as young musicians, both have competed in the Smoke free rock quest, reaching regional finals stage on several occasions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see an exciting young blues act and Riverhead Slide is proud to support the new generation of blues musucians.
Doc & The Strayfalcon's set list features their unique brand of up tempo, Chicago style blues.
The band includes four of Auckland's most experienced bluesmen: Doc' Foster (lead vocals and harp), Strayfalcon (lead guitar and vocals,) Gavin Davies (drums), George Komene (bass). You can catch the band's potent blend of blues at venues in and around Auckland and they are crowd favourites at festivals nationwide.
These guys will blow the roof off with their fantastic upbeat rockin' blues.
Slidin' Stevie Wigz & Friends will kick things off at 6.00 and Riverhead Slide with guests will wind up the evening til around midnight.
Meanwhile, Riverhead Slide are near to completing their new CD "Let it Slide" due for release later this year.
