Keep Saturday June 18 free for a mini-festival of awesome blues at the Masonic Tavern in Devonport.
Starting at 5 pm the Masonic presents three of New Zealand's finest blues bands: Los Diablos, Riverhead Slide, and Brilleaux with very special guest Anton "Tipi" Elkington.
If blistering electric blues is your thing then Los Diablos Blues Band delivers a performance that won't dissapoint.
Fiery electric blues which at times reveals shades of Country, RnB and Soul. Influences include: Eric Clapton, Albert Collins, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Songwriter/vocalists Steve Wigz and Gael Ludlow front Riverhead Slide with their own brand of sexy originals and blues standards.
The band features slide and lead guitars, keys, and a tight backline.
Riverhead Slide are one of New Zealand's most original and authentic blues bands, favourites at Jazz and Blues festivals around the country.
Brilleaux is a high-energy, hard driving, British-style rhythm and blues band from New Zealand in the style of bands such as Dr Feelgood, Wilko Johnson, and Nine Below Zero, and in a similar vein to earlier exponents of the genre such as The Yardbirds, Early Rolling Stones, and Johnny Kid and the Pirates.
Anton "Tipi" Elkington - Ex Tauranga band Hard To Handle, and The Hip Shooters (soon to be touring a town near you in the next month or two).
A rare guitarist who delivers an incendiary and inspired performance in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hendrix, and who never fails to inspire.
Don't miss the rare opportunity to see this man on stage... he delivers an inspired performance at every show.
This is a day you won't want to miss, a full day of blues of almost every description by a great line-up of bands.
The show starts at 5 pm and goes through till late with two one-hour sets by each band, so there's heaps of variety and no chance to get bored.
There is no cover charge so there's no excuse not to come!
CDs and band merchandise will be on sale at the show.
