
BB King, Elvis Costello and Ben Harper will be among the artists heading to New Zealand's first GrassRoots festival in South Auckland.
New Zealand's Puhinui Peninsula will host the blues and roots music event for two days on Saturday April 23 and Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Puhinui Reserve.
With over thirty artists on two stages, the two-day festival will bring together some of the world's most renowned artists as well as a raft of local acts across a multitude of genres with many of the international artists making one-off, exclusive performances in New Zealand.
First artists to be announced include BB King (USA), Elvis Costello & The Imposters (USA), Ben Harper and Relentless7 (USA), Rodrigo Y Gabriela (Mexico), Eric Bibb (USA), Paul Ubana Jones (NZ), Ruthie Foster (USA), Cairo Knife Fight (NZ), Ticket (NZ), Don McGlashan (NZ), Sola Rosa (NZ) with many more local and international artists to be announced before the end of January.
Set across 200 hectares of lush rural landscape, Puhinui Reserve occupies the southern portion of the Puhinui Peninsula.
The site is close to the Auckland International Airport, making the venue easily accessible.
Camping will also be available as well as a NZ food and wines hall, a selection of fully licensed bars on site and a wide variety of arts and crafts in the market village.
