Christmas Party and Auckland City Mission Appeal 2010
The Auckland Blues Club will be holding its Christmas Party on the 19th December at Carrington’s Café and in an attempt to help ease a little bit of the Christmas blues the club will calling for donations from its patrons for the Auckland City Mission’s Christmas Appeal.
The Mission has a history of serving people who have been marginalised through poverty, ill health addiction and/or trauma.
Auckland City Mission relies on the support and generosity of the public to provide emergency assistance and social services to those most marginalised in our community.
The Mission is one of the few organisations that can make good use of whatever you have to give, whether it's time, money, food or household items, Auckland City Mission will ensure that your contribution is put to good use to help vulnerable Aucklanders.
Over the Christmas period donations the Auckland City Mission needs most are monetary, non perishable food items and new toys for Christmas presents.
Sean McCarthy, the Auckland Blues Club’s president, says that “blues musicians are typically stereotyped as being down on their luck but thankfully that’s generally not the case in Auckland, and our club really wanted to help out those families less fortunate than ours at this time of year.”
There will be donation bins (both coin and food) provided, so please support to the Auckland City Mission’s Christmas appeal by bringing along non perishable food items, new toys for Christmas presents or via a monetary donation.
Carrington’s Café is located on the Unitec campus and accessed via Gate 3 on Carrington Road, Pt Chevallier.
A BBQ lunch will be available from 1pm, with The Flaming Mudcats kicking things off at 2pm and playing through to 5pm.
From the 1st December Auckland Blues Club membership will be reduced to $20 for the rest of the membership year, and if you join the club from the 1st to the 19th December, the Auckland Blues Club will donate $10 of your fee to the Auckland City Mission Christmas Appeal.
By way of saying thank you to the club members for their support throughout the year, club members who present their club membership card to the bar staff at Carrington’s on the 19th will receive a complimentary beer, glass of wine or soft drink.
