Blues Jam Night Rules

Everyone is welcome to come along and join in at the Auckland Blues Club’s Jam Night, but in the interests of fair play and to make sure the night runs smoothly, you must adhere to the following Jam Night rules.

  1. All performers must register with the Club Coordinator on arrival and fill in your name, and instrument played (or vocals) on a sheet provided. You should provide details of the music they will play and who you wish to play with, if anyone. The Club Coordinator will then allocate a space within the evening’s program. The performers will then be called on stage, and asked to perform 3 numbers together with the other selected musicians.
  2. The “Club Coordinator” is the Auckland Blues Club representative in charge of the jam night program.
  3. An act can do a set (see Rule 7 below) as a band or solo performer if pre-organised with the Committee before the date of the jam.
  4. Registration does not guarantee that you will play on the night, this depends on the numbers registering and time allowed.
  5. We ARE A BLUES CLUB, so for the enjoyment of our members, PLEASE PLAY BLUES MUSIC ONLY. The Club Coordinator will advise as to suitability if there is any doubt.
  6. All Musicians are asked to please limit your set to three (3) songs and a maximum time on stage of twenty (20) minutes.
  7. Change over time between sets should be as swift as possible or time may be taken away from the sets.
  8. Only musicians asked to do the set will be allowed to be on-stage unless specified by the Club Coordinator or any allocated representative of the Club.
  9. The Club Coordinator or any allocated representative of the Club or the venue maintains the right to control volume levels, so please don’t be offended if you are asked to turn down the volume.
  10. Musicians are asked to bring their own guitar amps, drum sticks and any equipment not supplied by the Auckland Blues Club.
  11. All musicians are asked to take care of any equipment belonging to the Club and equipment belonging to other musicians, and pay for any damage that occurs whilst being used by them.
  12. The Auckland Blues Club Committee has the right to ban or reprimand any person/s who displays negligent, disruptive or anti-social behaviour.
